A Fight that I Won..!!

Under the prevailing misinformation regarding Cancer as a dangerous and incurable disease which has lower rate of survival, I was loosing nerve even during investigations of a case of suspected cancer and anyone will not believe it was less ten months back. When finally diagnosed with the case of CARCINOMA BREAST CANCER (Triple negative) of left breast in its third stage forcing me to think at times that I may not be able to fight against it. But under the supervision and care of Dr Alok Gupta, Consultant Medicine Oncologist and his dedicated team and simultaneously support of my husband and kids who were there with me all around did not allow me to think any negative outcome and repeatedly assuring me that they will go to any extent of treatment and that I will be cured of this so called dreaded disease.

When first schedule of my treatment started with the mildest dose ( keeping in view of my advance age of 69 yrs) as decided by my medical specialist and my body responded in positive way through normal blood reports(cbc,lft,kft etc) and no significant variation in my body weight and not much of side effects – nothing that can’t be tolerated.

After my 4th Chemo session, I was comfortable enough and determined to fight against it. During entire course of chemotherapy, only once I had side effects of fever and urinary tract infection for which I was given treatment for 3 days only.

After chemotherapy I underwent left MRM (removal of affected breast) without any fear and discharged from the hospital within 48 hrs.

After a month I underwent last procedure of treatment of radiotherapy for 4 weeks (5 days in a week), which is called preventive treatment. Now I am finally free from cancer and undergoing normal follow-ups, periodical tests and medication

During these days, my family stood confidently along with me, scheduling hospital & lab appointments for me and ensuring that I had access to diet in line with doctor’s suggestions and also advising me to keep my moral high , guiding me with every information they can lay information on.

In the end I sum up my narrative in preceding paras in brief : My treatment could only be possible due to extremely high competence of my medical specialist Dr Alok Gupta and his complete support Team . It is also mentionable that it was Max Cancer Center team to initially access my condition, guide us to Mr. Alok Gupta and once he completed his treatment hand it back to Max Cancer Center’s surgery & radiology team.

Mere words cannot express my appreciation and gratitude for his gentle and supportive approach, well trained para-medical staff and under Max Health Care Hospital which is well equipped with comprehensive facilities and we all have huge praises to it. Equally praiseworthy is the role played by my family and other near & dear ones to keep my moral up and their timely interventions.

I strongly share my above experience with my sisters/brothers who have been diagnosed with cancer that it is no more a incurable disease if action is taken right time at initial stage for early diagnosis and further treatment from competent medical specialist and hospitals.
